Altogether Beautiful

Comparison is the thief of joy.
Finding self-worth has always been a struggle for me. Steven Furtick said, "The reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel." Social media displays only the highlight reels of everyone's lives--never the messy, unorganized parts of life. The constant comparison between your "behind the scenes" with everyone else's "highlight reels" will ultimately steal your joy.
You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you.
Song of Solomon 4:7 (ESV)
While the world fills you with self-doubt, the Savior of the world believes that you, His child, are more than enough. You are beautifully and wonderfully made. Stop worrying if you are skinny enough or smart enough or rich enough or good enough. It doesn't matter how beautiful or successful those Instagram models may appear, as a child of God, you are flawless in His sight. This reminder from Song of Solomon helps defeat my negative mindset.
I believe we should all be less concerned with what the world sees and more concerned with what the Lord sees. To Him, you are altogether beautiful. Your "behind the scenes" is just as beautiful as your "highlight reel." Those moments of weakness and heartbreak do not make you less than; they make you more human. And you were created by a Savior who loves you in the good times and the bad times. So next time you stand in front of the mirror creating an unending list of flaws, remember your Creator made you, loves you, and sees absolutely no flaw within you.
